Melissa Mash noticed that her friends had difficulty finding a bag that could handle a diverse lifestyle. For example, a bag that looked professional often couldn't carry workout clothes, and a workout bag simply didn't fit into formal settings. As a result, Mash and her friends often took to carrying around two bags, which seemed unnecessary and annoying.

Mash realized there was a need in the market for versatile bags, but she didn't really think about starting a business at first. It was only when she realized how widespread this need was -- for men and for women -- that she began to get serious about creating her solution.
